ALCEA TECHNOLOGIES: NEWS
Chris Justus to Speak at Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2007To discuss developing browser-based applications for the BlackBerryOttawa, Canada - May 4, 2007 – Chris Justus, CTO, Alcea Technologies, has been invited by Research In Motion to speak at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2007 on May 8, 2007 in Orlando, Florida. Chris has been invited to speak about Alcea’s experience developing a browser-based application for the BlackBerry wireless device. Co-presenting a break-out session with Ed Bourne from Research In Motion, Chris will share lessons learned with industry professionals who are interested in learning about how to bring their own web-based applications into the wireless space. “We have been speaking with RIM about enhancing our FIT issue management platform so it can be used in the BlackBerry environment,” says Justus, “a number of our clients have requested this capability so we were researching how we would go about proceeding with the project. It was pretty obvious to us that there are very strong parallels between the need the BlackBerry fills and what our issue management software does.” Alcea Technologies develops a web-based, enterprise-wide issue management platform that is used by over 30,000 users at 500 installations worldwide. If the BlackBerry device is what allows people to stay connected and informed, the FIT application is what adds the ability for BlackBerry users to see a clear, prioritized view of what issues are facing their organization, who is accountable for each issue and its status. “When used with a BlackBerry device, our FIT software literally takes the information managers need to make decisions and allocate resources – and puts it in the palm of their hand,” says Justus.
Alcea Technologies Inc. has been working with web-based technologies since it was founded in 1997. Their Fast IssueTrack and Fast BugTrack software, know to be the industry value leaders, have recently been re-branded as FIT. Their clients include Apple, Sun Microsystems, General Dynamics, NASA and Bearing Point.
