SMTP Settings

The SMTP settings page controls the SMTP connection used for email notification. You may only require the server and From fields, depending on the system that you are connecting to.

SMTP Server

The SMTP server name

From

The name to be used as the from address. This may need to match the username for the account

Username

The username used if authentication is necessary.

Password

The password used if authentication is necessary.

Message Id

Allows the message Id to be specified in notifications.

Override Charset

Allows the system to handle special charsets. If you are having character problems in your notifications, you can use this setting to try and solve charset issues. In many cases, "iso-8859-1. will solve the problem.

Secure Email Notification (Hide Details)

This option strips email notifications of the issue details. Just a title with the unique issue ID is sent.

Secure Email Notification (Hide Links)

This option strips email notifications of the quick links to the system, from the top of the notification..

Notes:

  • There is a Test Notification link on the top right of the page that will test your current settings. Check exception log if you do not get a valid email.
  • Exchange servers may need to have some options modified before FIT can connect to them. If you are having difficulty, please let us know and we will be happy to help you isolate the problem.
