The FIT system has been designed to try and meet the needs of all of our customers. We appreciate that customers have entirely different needs and that they usually want to customize the look and feel of the system themselves. We have packaged the software into a number of templates in order to ease the configuration process.
Each of these templates tries to address a specific type of need and the data fields that are typically required for that need. We fully expect that all customers will want to make changes to their systems and we have tried to make it possible for administrators in the following ways :
The FIT product allows you to control the field names, types, order, access priveledges and field sections that are used to input and view data in the system. If you are looking to customize the field layout, you can look for details on how to do so in any of the sections listed below :
All string customizations are done through the Customize Strings menu. This allows you to change terms or language strings that are shown in the system. If you are trying to change a default field, you may have to change a second string starting with sColumnXFIELDNAME to get it to work properly.
Strings are grouped into specific language options (avaialble to user profiles), each of which can be selected and edited, for every string. Simply choose the language and search for the string that you wish to change. The simplest way to search is to use <CTRL-F> to find the string you are looking for. In the near future, we will be adding a tab interface to this menu with a separate section for the most common strings, such as Dates and field names.
After FIT is purchased, you are also free to customize the logo at the top left of the screen. The logo is configurable by changing the following three strings.
We don't recommend this color scheme, but here are some examples of some customizations which are possible :
Special strings have been added to the system for a variety of purposes. For example, "sHead", "sFoot", and "sBottom" define system strings that appear on every page. These are useful for adding your own custom html (including javascript or Helpful Documentation) to appear throughout the system.
The sHead tag appears in the <HEAD> section of an html template.
The sBottom tag appears below the html for the menu, and above everything else on a template.
The sFoot tag appears at the bottom of an html page, and could be used to close any tags opened in the sBottom tag.
For example, our system has links to multiple pages at the top of every page so that we can move between systems quickly and easily.

The fields "Requested Due Date", "Actual Completion Date", "Estimated Hours", "Actual Hours", "Percent Complete", and "Parent" can be disabled if you are not planning on using the Project Management section. To do this, Select "Admin Menu", "Default Fields" and check "Disable Project Management Fields".
