The BugTrack template implements a bug tracking solution using a template designed for the management of software bugs and hardware defects. The template has been designed to integrate management, designers, developers, testers and qa individuals to facilitate a complete design process.

When a bug (or defect) is raised, it is immediately assigned to an individual who assumes ownership until the bug is passed to another individual. Throughout this transfer of ownership, the bug will follow a change process, where it assumes different progress states until it is solved and closed.

The BugTrack template makes use of the following initial fields to collect details about the bug and how it is handled during this change process :

1. ID : a unique ID to identify a bug in the system
2. Subject : a small title or summary of the bug which is used to identify the bug with it's ID
3. AssignedTo : the current owner of this bug.
4. Project : the project this bug belongs to.
5. Status : the current progress status of the bug.
6. Priority : each bug can be given a priority value which can be used to group or escalate bugs.
7. Environment : the physical environment where the bug occurred (ie: IE, Netscape, Mozilla) or (WinXP, Win95, Unix).
8. Version : the version of the software or hardware where the bug was discovered.
9. Description : an description which is given for each update to the bug. This is like a comment by the user who is modifying the bug details.
10. Notify List : a list of users who want to be kept informed about all progress of the bug.
11. History : a complete history of all changes to each field for the bug.
